On Thursday, Jan. 7, Groton Police Criminal Investigation (CID) Detectives, along with Agents from the State of Connecticut Liquor Control Division, and a representative of the Groton Alliance for Substance use Prevention (GASP) conducted unannounced liquor compliance inspections of establishments that serve and sell alcohol within the Town of Groton.
The inspections were performed to determine compliance with state laws prohibiting the serving of alcohol to persons under the age of 21. GASP is a Ledge Light Health District program.
The compliance checks encompassed establishments across the Town of Groton and did not specifically target any one area or premise. A total of 10 unannounced compliance checks were conducted. Of the 10 establishments checked, three establishments failed by selling/serving the underage individuals who were working in conjunction with Groton Police.
The three establishments that failed the compliance checks are:
- Game Time Sports Bar, 577 Route 12, Groton, CT
- The Harp and Hound, 4 Pearl St., Mystic, CT
- Milestone, 12 Water St., Mystic, CT
Groton Police Detectives and Agents from the State of Connecticut Liquor Control Division met with the managers of the establishments that failed the compliance check and advised the managers which employees served the minors. The transactions were witnessed by Agents observing from inside the establishment.
The results of the operation were documented and provided to the State of Connecticut Liquor Control Division and Ledge Light Health District for possible further administrative action.
