Mystic is a village and census-designated place in both Groton and Stonington, Connecticut. The border between the two towns is the center of the Mystic River, which the Mystic River Bascule Bridge spans. Groton is on the west side of the river, while Stonington is on the east side.

This page is intended to provide general guidance on parking options available in the Mystic area. The Town of Groton Police Department and the Stonington Police Department do not endorse, recommend or favor any specific parking facilities or services, nor do the police departments operate these locations.

Parking Lots 

  • Mystic Parking LLC – 1 Pearl St. (paid)
  • Mystic Museum of Art – 9 Water St. (paid)
  • St. Mark’s Episcopal Church – 15 Pearl St. (donation-based)
    • Parking spaces alongside the building are strictly reserved for official church business. Staff and event parking also take priority over visitor parking. Please pay special attention to signs, markings and labeling of spaces.

On-Street Parking

  • West Main Street (handicap parking available)

  • Academy Lane (excluding the Academy Point lot)

  • Mystic Seaport (public parking and shuttle to downtown Mystic) – 75 Greenmanville Ave. (paid)
  • St. Patrick Church – 32 East Main St. (paid during special events)
    • Parking spaces alongside the building are strictly reserved for official church business. Staff and event parking also take priority over visitor parking. Please pay special attention to signs, markings and labeling of spaces.

Parking Reminders

While Mystic is a popular tourist destination, thousands of people call it home. Please be respectful of this, especially during early morning and late-night hours when walking in neighborhoods.

We offer the following reminders as you park during your visit to Mystic:

  • Always check and obey posted signage.
  • Do not park in fire lanes, crosswalks, or areas marked “No Parking.” Markings may include painted curbing, which delineates the no-parking zone.
  • Be aware of residential permit zones.
  • Please be mindful of residential driveways when parking. Some driveways may not be immediately visible, especially those that are unpaved or blend into the surrounding landscape.
  • Some lots may have limited hours or be restricted during certain events.
  • Use caution near waterfronts and private lots — availability may be limited or require payment via kiosk or app.
  • Please be sure to adhere to temporary parking restrictions and posted signage due to special events.

Parking Enforcement

We want your visit to Mystic to be stress-free — and that includes parking! Our hope is that awareness helps avoid any inconvenience.

In the event that the Town of Groton Police Department issues you a fine due to illegal parking, please address it by visiting our ticket portal utilizing the QR code found on the ticket or through their website.

  • Please note that, based on legislative action by the Town Council, fines have increased, and enforcement will become effective on Aug. 1, 2025.

Anyone issued a fine by the Stonington Police Department should visit the Town’s website for additional information on how to address the ticket.
