The Traffic Enforcement Unit conducts speed and other vehicle traffic enforcement throughout the town in an effort to promote roadway safety and decrease traffic collisions. The unit provides assistance with issues brought forward by the Town of Groton Traffic Authority, attends Town of Groton Traffic Authority meetings, CT DOT meetings, and special event coordination meetings that include traffic control components. The unit deploys traffic-related equipment such as speed enforcement trailers and traffic counters to curb traffic related issues.
The unit takes into consideration citizen traffic complaints as well as traffic collision data to focus the locations and type of enforcement needed by the community.
