Town of Groton Police have made an arrest following an intensive investigation into a summertime commercial burglary.
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the Town of Groton Police Department responded to a burglar alarm activation at Olio Restaurant, 33 Kings Highway, Groton, Connecticut.
Arriving officers discovered a damaged door, which had provided unlawful access to the restaurant’s interior. It was discovered that the cash drawer was missing. Town of Groton Police Officers and Detectives processed evidence at the scene.
Throughout the course of several months, and with results from forensic evidence collected at the initial crime scene, Town of Groton Police Detectives identified JAVON YOUNG, 48, LAST KNOWN ADDRESS-HOMELESS, as a suspect in the burglary. A court-signed arrest warrant for YOUNG was secured as a result of the investigation.
On Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, YOUNG was arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant. YOUNG was already in custody on unrelated charges at the time of the warrant service and was presented in New London Superior Court Geographical Area 10 in New London (GA-10), Connecticut.
YOUNG has been charged with the following:
- §53a-103, Burglary 3rd Degree
- §53a-116, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree
- §53a-125b, Larceny 6th Degree
