GROTON — The Town of Groton Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a road closure.
On Wednesday, March 19, at approximately 10:23 a.m., the Town of Groton Police Department responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on New London Road (Route 1) in the area of Strible Lane in the Mystic section of Groton.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling westbound on New London Road left the roadway on the right side, striking and snapping a utility pole toward its base. As a result, the pole’s wires fell across the roadway.
The driver was not injured as a result of the crash.
New London Road between Ocean View Avenue and Ice House Lane is temporarily closed while utility crews make repairs to the downed utility pole. Motorists should consider alternative travel routes to and from Mystic.
