GROTON — Chief L.J. Fusaro Jr. wishes to provide an update about the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a Groton man who has been missing for more than two years.
Max J. Scott, 29, of Groton, has been missing since June 25, 2022.
Scott was last seen by family and friends walking on South Road in Groton while carrying a backpack. He is known to frequent the Poquonnock Bridge area.
Scott is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 200 pounds and has long brown hair, blue eyes and brown facial hair.
In late June 2022, the Town of Groton Police Department received a missing person complaint regarding Scott. The Town of Groton Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) became involved shortly after to support the initial efforts of the Patrol Division.
Since the onset of the investigation, Groton CID has conducted hundreds of interviews, filed hundreds of case reports and logged hundreds of hours of body-worn camera footage. CID has worked collaboratively with local law enforcement, Connecticut State Police and federal partners to bring this investigation to a resolution.
CID continues to work tirelessly with all entities by leveraging all resources at the department’s disposal to find Scott. These cooperative efforts consist of, but are certainly not limited to, canine searches, drone searches, gathering informant intelligence, underwater searches and surveillance and utilizing databases and clearinghouses.
“Our Detectives have been in near-daily contact with members of Max’s family to keep them apprised of developments in the case and assure the family that locating Max is a priority for the Groton Police,” said Chief Fusaro. “We remain committed to using all resources at our department’s disposal to aid in finding Max.”
The Town of Groton Police Department’s efforts to locate Scott are ongoing.
