Groton Police Make Threatening Arrest

On Monday, January 20, 2025, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Groton Police were notified by the Connecticut State Police Intelligence Operations Unit of threats made by Aaron STANISLAV during an online social media video. STANISLAV is a person well-known to Groton Police due to several erratic and threatening interactions with Groton Police and his own family. Groton Police were advised that STANISLAV threatened violence toward law enforcement officers and students. The suspect did not name any specific schools, and the threats were non-specific. Officers were aware that STANISLAV often utilizes the now-defunct, state-owned Mystic Education Center, at 240 Oral School Road, Mystic, as shelter, though he had previously been formerly trespassed from the property.

When Groton Officers arrived at the Mystic Education Center, they were deployed to the perimeter of the property to determine if STANISLAV was present in the building. Connecticut State Police from Troop “E” were also notified of the situation and a trooper arrived to assist Groton Police. Groton Police used a drone from the department’s Drone Unit to attempt to observe if STANISLAV was actually inside one of the buildings, but his presence inside the building could not be confirmed. Then, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Groton Officers were made aware of subsequent online videos made by STANISLAV that indicated he was on the Stonington side of Mystic.

Stonington Police were alerted about the situation and several Groton Police Officers and Stonington Police Officers responded to the Mystic VFW where STANISLAV was located and taken into custody and transported by Mystic River Ambulance to L&M Hospital for evaluation.

An arrest warrant affidavit for STANISLAV was completed and subsequently issued for the arrest of STANISLAV for Threatening in the 1st Degree. Upon release from L&M Hospital at approximately 8:30 p.m., STANISLAV was placed under arrest by Groton Police. At the police station, STANISLAV attempted to escape from the booking room but was stopped by detectives.

STANISLAV was held on a court-set $1,000,000.00 bond and an additional $100,000 bond set by Groton Police for attempting to flee from booking. He is scheduled to be arraigned at G.A. 10 in New London today.

Police conducted an extensive search for weapons, utilizing officers on foot, K9 units, and drones, but the search did not yield any results for weapons.
