The Groton Police Department’s communication division is a regional public safety answering point (PSAP) answering 9-1-1 calls for all of Groton, North Stonington, and cellular calls from southeastern Connecticut, southwestern Rhode Island, and as far away as Long Island, New York.
The communications division is responsible for handling dispatches for the following agencies:

- Connecticut Eastern Region Response Integrated Team (CERRIT)
Our dispatchers are all certified in emergency medical dispatch through the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch which allows them to query the caller to determine how best to help the person in need and provide life-saving measures if necessary. Several dispatchers are certified in Crisis Intervention Training allowing them to help de-escalate situations prior to first responders’ arrival.
