A Message from the Chief

Groton, Connecticut Chief of Police

From Chief Fusaro

The women and men of the Groton Police Department are proud of our agency, and we are happy to serve all of the residents and the thousands of people who work and visit Groton.  We are a full-service, internationally accredited law enforcement agency that employs over 70 sworn officers, 21 full-time civilians, 2 Animal Control Officers, and another 11 part-time employees.  We are dedicated to providing the highest levels of services that protect our residents and visitors, while enhancing the quality of life in Groton.

The Groton Police Department is committed,

to providing the utmost professional law enforcement, 9-1-1 dispatch, and Emergency Management services for all who work, reside, and visit the Town of Groton. We accomplish this by ensuring our agency meets the “Gold Standard of Law enforcement” through maintaining accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

We adhere to the best practices and contemporary standards for the multi-service and multi-jurisdictional Groton Emergency Communications Center. The GECC provides dispatch for all of Groton and North Stonington’s Fire and EMS services in addition to the Groton Police and Groton Long Point Police Department. By conducting regular drills and operational activities as the Emergency Management Directorate for town government, we can ensure a swift and effective response to the most difficult events.

We are further committed to working with our residents and community partners to make Groton a safe and enjoyable place to live, work, and visit. We strive to make strong and lasting relationships within our town members through effective Community Policing strategies. I hope that when you see one of our officers or civilian employees, their professionalism and commitment to the community are evident.

On behalf of all of us, welcome to Groton.
