D.A.R.E Program

High school participants in the Groton DARE program.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education commonly known as D.A.R.E is an educational program that promotes responsible decision making. The Groton Police Department has engaged our community’s youth in this program for decades. This Police Officer led series of classroom lessons teaches children from Kindergarten through 12th grade a number of valuable skills to enable responsible decision making, and foster positive relationships with our department members.

The tools vary from an education on the harmful effects of drugs, to learning how to resist peer pressure. The classroom sessions also include the effects of non-verbal communications, bullying, stress management and confident communications.
