The Groton Police Department facilitates CT Pistol Permit applications and fingerprinting for all Town of Groton and Groton Long Point residents, as well as those who reside on the Groton-New London Sub Base.
Before you schedule your appointment, please ensure:
You have completed your Connecticut approved gun safety course within 12 months of your application.
Are 21 years of age or older.
Have not been convicted of a felony, or one of the 11 misdemeanor offenses as prescribed by the state.
Are a resident of the Town of Groton, Groton Long Point, or Groton Sub Base.
*Service codes for fingerprint registration will be provided upon booking your appointment.
**Residents within the Groton City borough must direct their application to the Groton City Police Department.
Steps to getting your pistol permit with the Groton Police Department.
- Attend a CT approved gun safety course.
- Schedule appointment using the link above- Immediately check your email for important instructions.
- Prior to your appointment- Register for your fingerprints using the service code provided by Ofc. Banks, Complete the DPS-799-c (notarized), fill out the Groton Police Pistol Permit Information Form
- At your appointment you will be fingerprinted, photograph taken, and all of your documents and identification will be obtained by the investigating Officer.
- The timeline to receive your temporary permit is approximately 14-21 days after your fingerprint appointment.
- Bring your temporary permit to a State Police barracks to finalize the process.
